LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL DIRT SERIES ANNOUNCES
EXCLUSIVE PARTNERSHIP WITH HOOSIER TIRE
WAYCROSS,
GA (February 27, 2013) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series are excited to announce an exclusive partnership with Hoosier
Tire as the "Official" Race Tire for the series and a new
tire rule implemented for all series sanctioned events in 2013. The
new agreement with Hoosier Tire will reduce the amount of tires
needed including limited compounds and constructions.
With this new
agreement the LOLMDS is taking steps to reduce the costs and burden
of carrying so many tires to a LOLMDS event. The series has always
welcomed two tire manufacturers to compete on the series but the
competition among the tire companies created too many compounds and
new constructions for race teams to keep up with and be prepared.
With our previous tire rule, race teams were having to purchase the
same amount of tire constructions and compounds as compared to the
open tire rules before the series began.
"Hoosier
has been involved with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series from its
beginning." said Dennis Sherman, vice president of sales and marketing for
Hoosier Racing Tire. "When we consider a partner, we focus on the vision
of the sanctioning body, the participants, and the strength of schedule. We are
proud to become the official race tires of Lucas Oil Late Models." MORE

DAYTONA
BEACH, FL (February 16, 2013) -- The ARCA Racing Series ran its 50th

In the end, John Wes Townley passed eight-time

Oil 200 presented by MAVTV American Real.
The 80-lap race had an international flavor to
it. Forty-four cars were on hand for qualifying including three drivers from
Canada, two from France and one from Venezuela hoping for one of the 40
starting spots. John Wes Townley earned
the pole for the race circling the 2.5-mile superspeedway in 49.638 seconds
(181.313 mph) using Hoosier's 12" wide radial slicks. Venezuelan driver
Milka Duno was second (49.860) followed by Bobby Gerhart (50.044) in

HOOSIER ROLLS WITH STYLE
LAKEVILLE,
IN (February 8, 2013) - John Adamo, Hoosier’s Drag Service Trailer
truck driver and Track Service Event Manager, rolls out with a new look heading
to Pomona, CA for the NHRA Winternationals. John is prepared to turn heads with a brand new trailer and purple paint
scheme for the beginning of the 2013 NHRA Drag Racing season.
Many
hours went into the thinking, talking and planning stage, with many more hours
going into the artwork design selection. It
all led to quite a transformation of appearance for Hoosier Racing Tire. Our brand new 53’ Drag Tire Servicing Trailer is like nothing we have
ever seen before. The new Drag
Trailer is something that is going to be noticed going down the highway, as
well as, to racing events (not that Hoosier was ever hard to find before, most
winning racers know where to go to get their tires that will put them in the
winner’s circle). More

BOB NEWTON TRIBUTE VIDEO
LAKEVILLE,
IN -- On September 26, 2012, Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. sadly lost one
of its co-founders, Bob Newton. Bob,
along with his devoted wife Joyce, were responsible for taking a small tire
re-capping business in 1957 and building it into the largest race tire manufacturer in the
world. You
are invited to view the six minute video tribute that was created to honor
this very special man. We
thank everyone appearing in the video, especially Rollie Helmling
who did a wonderful job narrating and capturing the man we affectionately
knew as "Newt." Thank
you for taking the time to watch our video tribute to Bob Newton. CLICK

Joyce Newton, the wife of Hoosier
Racing Tire Corp. co-founder Robert L. Newton, issued this statement in
response to the outpouring of support after Bob's death. "I
am truly thankful to the many people who have shared their wishes and prayers
during Bob's declining health and his subsequent death. I want to thank every
one of you that came to Bob's viewing, sent a card, donated to Newton Park in
Bob's name, sent flowers, plants, etc., or kept me in their prayers in Bob's
passing. I am at peace knowing he is no longer in pain and that he, too, is at
peace. Support of family, friends, and my Hoosier family is helping me adjust
to being alone after over sixty years of marriage. I am grateful for the
support and kindness of those who shared my feelings for Bob. May God bless all
of you and keep you happy and safe. Please keep me in your prayers." Joyce

BOB NEWTON'S VISION WILL CONTINUE TO GUIDE
HOOSIER
A
famous playwright once wrote that life was not to be likened to a
brief candle but to a “lasting torch” that could be passed on to
the next generation. Although he was probably not thinking of
business succession when he wrote this, we feel that his comment is
certainly relative to
our own attitude here at Hoosier. I say this to reassure everyone
who may have questions or concerns now that Bob has passed that
Hoosier will continue on as before. The company is not for sale and
it will continue to be run by the “Newtons.”
The
only changes are the following:
Joyce
L. Newton - President
Marjorie
D. Skaggs – Vice President
Scotty
L. Merrill – Executive Vice President
There
are no other staff changes. Bob built a fantastic staff and they in turn have
built a great work force. Bob’s final act in the company was authorizing the
new mixer. It was his “baby” and I know he is smiling now that it is
completed and up and running.
I
want to thank you for your continued support and hard work.
