Wittmer gave i-MOTO Racing a season-opening Street Tuner (ST) victory and
second win in four races by taking the No. 31 Cobalt Friction Acura TSX to the
checkered flag. The win also marked the first KONI Challenge win of any kind
for co-driver and team owner Glenn Bocchino, whose team swept the top two
positions.
Kuno Wittmer’s and Peter Cunningham led the opening stages of the event, in
the No. 32 i-MOTO Racing Acura TSX, and then stood on the second step of
the podium.
In third place was again an Acura TSX, driven by the team of Compass360
Racing, drivers Karl Thomson and Travis Walker.
The race will be televised (tape delayed) February 2nd, 8:00 PM on the SPEED
Channel.
Hoosier Racing Tire is proud to be the sole racing tire provider for the Koni
Challenge racing series. This weekend race was serviced by Hoosier’s
service team of: Scott Huffer, Doug Barnes, Chris Grossman, Rick Sisk,
Dan Webb, Jim Bartholomew, Eriks Bers, Mike Haenes, Jeff Yute and engineer
Matt Marlow.
The weather stayed in the mid-60’s and low 70’s all week with a bit of
cloud cover most days. It sprinkled mildly on Friday morning but made
for good racing conditions.
The Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series competitors return to the track May 24-26
at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn. for the second round of the season
