OSWEGO,
NY (March 9) – For over 20 years Hoosier Racing Tire has played an integral
role in the racing action at Oswego Speedway, and that will continue in 2012.
Hoosier’s Irish Saunders and Oswego Speedway co-owner John Torrese
announced today their continued partnership which will see Hoosier Racing Tires
on every entrant in the Novelis Supermodified division and Pathfinder Bank SBS
Series at the Speedway.
“We
are excited to continue our relationship with Oswego Speedway,” said
Saunders. “John (Torrese) has
done a great job with the Speedway and he is very passionate about
Supermodified racing - he’s a racer. Bentley
(Warren) called me and said they are going to do great things with the track as
new owners, and they are coming through.”
Since
the early 1990’s Hoosier Racing Tire has been the official tire manufacturer
of Novelis Supermodified racing at Oswego Speedway.
Not long after, they also became the official tire of the Pathfinder
Bank SBS Series. The relationship
has grown over a 20 year period, but each knows there is always more work to be
done.
“After
a year of working with John and Eric, we heard what they needed,” said
Saunders. “We have designed a
brand new Oswego Speedway Novelis Supermodified left rear tire for the coming
season. The tire is going to allow
for more grip to tighten the cars up some and also help to be more consistent.
We are committed to Oswego Speedway and its racers and we want to give
them what they need, after all the drivers are the show.
Throw in Mike Silliman to help manage the tires on a weekly basis, and
we think we have a great fit.”
Once
again for 2012, drivers in the Novelis Supermodified and Pathfinder Bank SBS
divisions will be vying for the overall Hoosier Racing Tire Championship at
Oswego Speedway. Division champions
will not only be rewarded with their Championship check, but also a coveted
Hoosier Racing Tire Champion’s jacket.
“We’re
proud to continue our partnership with Hoosier Racing Tire,” said Torrese.
“Hoosier has shown their eagerness to work with us and our drivers to
provide the ultimate product in open-wheel, short track, asphalt racing.
With the speeds at which our racers travel on a weekly basis, they
deserve to be on the best tire possible.”
The
2012 racing season at Oswego Speedway begins May 5th.
Events run May through September on most Saturday nights, culminating
with the Fall Championship 75 on September 15th.
The
annual
Speedway
open practice is scheduled for April 28th.
